LUCA’S La Iguana Blanca

BISTRO AT CASA CATHERWOOD

Why would I ever order another veggie-burger?

I have been let down and disappointed so many times over the years that it is disgusting. Soybean solids substitutes have taken away my appetite but never satisfied my hunger.

If you have been in Mexico so long that the beef starts tasting good you have been in Mexico too long.

Last night wife Jane and I sought out a quiet little out of the tourist loop restaurant. Luca's La Iguana Blanca is located in the Bistro at Casa Catherwood on calle 59 between 72 and 74 (in the downtown section of Mérida known as Santiago).

Featuring Italian specialties, our friend and owner Luca along with his well renowned specialty chef Noe presented us with a world class stand alone dining experience never to be forgotten.

I had an elegant veggie-burger with no soy solids which I will not describe here. You will just have to check it out for yourself.

Jane’s eggplant Melanzane alla Parmigiana also tipped the scales in our lovely and savory dining extravaganza. Be seated under the stars in Luca’s open air solarium or inside adjacent to the diminutive eco-garden filled tropical surprises. Either way this sensibly priced establishment will get you coming back. For the menu and more information, check out: http://www.casa-catherwood.com/bistro.htmlBy John M. Grimsrud
